Gates: End teacher pay raises based on seniority, degrees
Microsoft founder Bill Gates is calling on school superintendents nationwide to eliminate pay raises for teachers based on advanced degrees and seniority. Gates, speaking at the Council of Chief State School Officers convention, will instead suggest paying teachers based on effectiveness and ending efforts to reduce class sizes. I don't see how he plans to equalize the playing field for the measurement process. I hope he is planning to contribute 2-3 billion a year to create common evaluation criteria that can be used. That would make the concept go from being 'unfair and unbalanced' to being 'fair and impartial.' I would be on board for that!!!!
