Gates: End teacher pay raises based on seniority, degrees
Microsoft founder Bill Gates is calling on school superintendents nationwide to eliminate pay raises for teachers based on advanced degrees and seniority. Gates, speaking at the Council of Chief State School Officers convention, will instead suggest paying teachers based on effectiveness and ending efforts to reduce class sizes.
