The Office of Standards and Learning will offer a free, hybrid professional learning opportunity designed for K–12 arts educators as they work through the implementation year of the new 2017 South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency. Higher Education and District Arts Coordinators are invited to participate.
Participation in this series will afford attendees the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the new 2017 South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency by the following: • examine the terminology of the new College- and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency; • identify key concepts, knowledge, and skills found in the benchmarks and indicators; • understand how to use benchmarks, indicators, and learning targets to design units of instruction; • understand how the design process and the creative process of our standards work together; • analyze student work to determine proficiency level; and • collaborate with peers to develop unit and lessons of instruction using the new standards. Throughout this series, participants will refine their practice through ongoing virtual and face-to-face sessions designed to support application of the new 2017 South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency and its impact on student learning. Participants must attend all 5 face to face meetings (July through November) and virtual meetings. Certificates of completion for up to 37 hours will be issued to participants who meet all expectations of the professional learning opportunity from July through November. All face-to-face and virtual meetings are required. Participants who attended an SCDE professional learning series during the 2017–18 school year and want to deepen their working knowledge of the new standards, can begin the series in September. Returning participants must commit to attending all three face to face meetings (September through November) and virtual meetings. Certificates of completion for up to 23 hours will be issued to participants who meet all expectations of the professional learning opportunity from September through November. All face-to-face and virtual meetings are required. For more information about dates and registration, please follow this link. Comments are closed.
