Grant/scholarship Opportunities​

SCAEA supports you!
SCAEA is proud to focus professional attention on quality art education and its exemplary art educators. We are honored to offer the grants listed below. 
Grant awards will be presented during the fall SCAEA conference at our annual awards ceremony.

Our SCAEA awards, grants, & scholarships program objectives are to
  • recognize excellence in the many outstanding individuals, programs and supporters of art education in South Carolina;
  • focus professional attention on quality art education and exemplary art educators;
  • increase public awareness of the importance of quality art education;
  • set standards for quality education and demonstrate achievement;
  • provide tangible recognition of members' achievements;
  • earn respect of colleagues; and 
  • enhance professional opportunities for SCAEA members.

SCAEA members who meet the established criteria, and non-SCAEA members where applicable, are eligible to receive an SCAEA award. Please review the criteria for each award as listed under the link before completing your nomination.

R. Scot Hockman Teacher Grant

Picture
The amount awarded may be up to $750.00.
​Required documents include
  • the applicant's current résumé and
  • a photo.
The applicant must
  • currently be teaching art in a K-12 setting;
  • use the grant funds to support instruction during the regular school day; and
  • have an active SCAEA membership for a minimum of one year prior applying for the grant.

Non-SCAEA sponsored grants
Picture
The purpose of the ACIG is to assist schools and districts in developing and implementing arts initiatives that support quality arts education programs that significantly improve student achievement in the arts.

DAP grants provide funds for one-year projects. Successful DAP applications must indicate in the strategic arts plan that the applicant will include all arts forms-dance, music, theatre, and visual arts-over a three-year period of their strategic arts plan.

abc advancement grant program for sc schools

​These grants provide valuable funding to curriculum, teacher standards, and projects that strengthen arts education for South Carolina students.
​

The ABC Advancement grant program is funded by the South Carolina Arts Commission, and supports schools committed to implementing standards-based arts curricula and to making the arts an integral part of the basic curriculum and daily classroom instruction. ABC Advancement grants are available to certified ABC Schools. ​

EMERGING ARTIST GRANTS

APPLY HERE
This grant is designed to assist emerging artists in South Carolina through project grant funding as well as mentorship and professional support during the grant period.
The combination of funding and mentorship is intended to:
  • deepen artistic practice and foster artistic excellence;
  • encourage career growth, advancement, and sustainability; and
  • provide professional development and opportunities for collaboration.

Baccalaureate program (scholarship)

Application deadline: 15 september 2023

Individuals who apply for an SCAEA scholarship must
  • provide a profile photo with their application;
  • have sponsorship from an active SCAEA member;
  • provide three (3) letters of support, one of which must be authored by the SCAEA member sponsor;
  • provide a complete narrative (instructions on the form);
  • provide a small portfolio of at least 12 images of their artwork or their work with students (please see the instructions on the form to be sure it is set up and formatted correctly); and
provide an official copy of their latest transcript (transcript must be emailed to scaea.awards@gmail.com subject: SCAEA Scholarship, last name, Transcript).

Scholarships for sc residents

Palmetto fellows

APPLY HERE
Students, families and military:
The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is a merit-based program recognizing the most academically talented high school seniors and encouraging these students to attend college in the state. Palmetto Fellows may receive up to $6,700 their freshman year and up to $7,500 for their sophomore, junior and senior years. Half of the scholarship is awarded in the fall term and half in the spring term.

Life scholarship

The Legislative Incentive for Future Excellence (LIFE) Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program administered by the financial aid office at each eligible public and independent college and university in South Carolina.

SC hope scholarship (freshman)

APPLY HERE
The SC HOPE Scholarship Program is a merit-based scholarship created for students attending a four-year institution who do not qualify for the LIFE or Palmetto Fellows Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded during the freshman year of attendance only.  ​

SC WORKFORCE & INDUSTRY NEEDS SCHOLARSHIP

The SC•WINS Scholarship is a statewide technical college scholarship program designed to address workforce shortages in South Carolina. The Scholarship supplements Lottery Tuition Assistance (LTAP) to help cover any tuition and mandatory fees left after applying all other scholarships or grants.
