Mary Whyte Art Educator Award

Established in 2007, the Mary Whyte Art Educator Award is designed to highlight a visual art teacher in a South Carolina public school who has demonstrated superior commitment to their students and to their craft. The award is accompanied by a cash prize of $2,500 and a $2,500 gift certificate for art supplies. 

Applications and letters of support are due August 30, 2022.

Mary Whyte was recently featured on CBS Sunday Morning for her project titled "We the People." Whyte set out to paint 50 veterans from 50 states. The men and women included in the exhibition, now at the City Gallery in Charleston, S.C., are as diverse as the nation they served.

R. Scot Hockman Teacher Grant

Requirements:
  • Applicants must be active members of SCAEA for at least one year prior to the year of application: For this application, applicants must be a member of SCAEA/NAEA by December 2021 (must be a member for a full year prior to applying). 
  • ​Applicants must teach in a K-12 setting.
  • Grant funds must be used to support instruction during the regular school day. The grant amount awarded may be up to $750.
    ​
Applications and letters of support must be submitted by 5 PM on August 15th, 2022.
